BFC Invests for a Greener Future

Greenworks Environmental Recognition Award

BFC has been steadily building its reputation as an environmentally-sensitive printer. And now, BFC is a recognized recipient of the GreenWorks Environmental Recognition Award, a special green initiative developed by Agfa Graphics, one of the world's leading imaging and information technology companies. “By investing in products that minimize our footprint on the environment and by implementing policies that effectively reduce, reuse and recycle on a daily basis, we are leading the way to a greener and brighter future in the graphic communications industry,” says Joe Novak, President, BFC. “We are honored to receive the GreenWorks Environmental Recognition Award from Agfa and will continue to keep searching for new ways to reduce our impact on the environment.”

The following are among the installations, implementations and policy changes at BFC that led to the company’s current status as an environmental leader:

  • Installation of chemistry-free printing plates
  • Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification
  • Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification
  • Use of non-VOC and soy-based inks

“Many leading printers are adopting greener policies today as they realize the implications that non action will have for future generations. BFC has proven that they are doing their part in many decisive ways, from the products they are using to the way they run their business day after day,” says Thomas Saggiomo, President, Agfa Graphics, North America. “We developed our GreenWorks program to support and help move environmental efforts forward, and BFC has taken that cue and ran with it on its own, to an even greater achievement than we had anticipated.”
